How to Use

Scan with Camera

  1. Open the app and tap Scan QR Code.
  2. Allow camera access when prompted.
  3. Hold your phone steady and align the Aadhaar QR code within the frame.
  4. The code is detected automatically — no need to tap a button.
  5. Your decoded information appears instantly on the result screen.

Scan from Gallery (saved image)

  1. On the home screen, tap Choose from Photos.
  2. Select an image of an Aadhaar card from your photo library.
  3. The app processes the image locally and displays the decoded result.

View or Hide the Full Aadhaar Number

By default, only the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number are shown (XXXX XXXX 1234). Tap the eye icon next to the Aadhaar number to toggle visibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the app require an internet connection?

No. Aadhaar FastScan works entirely offline. No network connection is needed at any point.

Is my data stored or shared?

No. Scanned information is displayed only during your session and is never saved to storage or sent to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Which QR code formats are supported?

The app supports all three official Aadhaar QR formats: the current UIDAI Secure QR (2019 and later), the older XML format, and the legacy key-value format.

Is Aadhaar FastScan an official UIDAI app?

No. Aadhaar FastScan is an independent utility and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by UIDAI or the Government of India.

Troubleshooting

Camera permission denied

Android: Go to Settings → Apps → Aadhaar FastScan → Permissions → Camera and enable it.
iOS: Go to Settings → Aadhaar FastScan → Camera and toggle it on.

QR code not detected

Try the following:

"Not a valid Aadhaar QR" message

Ensure you are scanning the QR code printed on an official Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI. QR codes from other documents (PAN, Voter ID, etc.) are not supported.

Some fields show N/A

Not all Aadhaar cards include every field. For example, older cards may only contain the year of birth rather than a full date, or may omit certain address components. This is normal and reflects the data stored in the QR code itself.

Gallery scan fails or shows an error

Make sure the image is clear, not heavily compressed, and that the QR code is fully visible and not cropped. Very small or low-resolution images may fail to decode.
